How to Use the Vedic Calendar: Tithi, Nakshatra, and Lunar Dates

The Vedic calendar on Vedic Matters combines a familiar month grid with traditional Panchanga elements computed for your location.

Location matters

Tithi and nakshatra change with local sunrise. Search your city so timings align with where you observe rituals.

Grid and list views

The grid shows each day’s lunar date (tithi) and nakshatra when data is loaded. Switch to list view for a scrollable summary of the month. Tap any day to open detailed Panchanga in the side panel.

Relationship to festivals

Many vrats and festivals follow tithi, not the Gregorian date alone—so Ekadashi or Purnima may fall on different civil dates each year. Use the calendar to plan ahead.

Also explore daily panchanga, festival planning tips, and reading a calendar day panel.
